Dear reader
Either you heard about the project somewhere in the secrets corners of the "real" world, or found your way to these pages through the magic pathways of cyberspace. Either way, I am glad you found us in this wilderness.
In short, Mothlands is a experimental film project, that will launch on September 1st 2013 and run a year onwards. Throughout the projects runtime, I will create and upload a number of short film sketches, in collaboration with a handful of talented co-creators from the world of film, music and literature. Sharing completely fresh work on the web is new to me, and this aspect really excites me.
That is also why I have chosen this format. The sharing-aspect forces me to commit to the whole thing.
It forces me to keep the pulse going throughout the project runtime. I like that.
One of the things that I am very aware of though, is to try and balance the eagerness to work at an intense speed, with the patience and grounding needed for the work to flourish. All to often I want to do everything at once, with an unrealistic sense of time. And with this enormous unleashing of energy that comes from this act of liberation, I need to remind myself, that the creative work should never feel rushed. While some of the sketches might actually benefit from a slightly manic energy, others definitely won't. It is a question of what kind of mind set and time frame each film sketch needs, in order to blossom. I'm sure the process will teach me as we go along.

This blog will be the project homebase, where I will upload the films, and share my updates, revelations, observations, frustrations, fascinations and other reflections with you. My hope is, that maybe you will respond somehow. Maybe not instantly, maybe delayed. Maybe by quietly taking inspiration, maybe by loudly spreading the word or calling me a twat for making a project so artsy and pretentious.
Whatever mothlands awakens in you, I hope that it will have capacity to open up for shared reflections with readers, film buffs, film makers, artists and other curious souls. Don't hold back.
